Saipan!

This was an incredible and interesting place to visit. There were beautiful beaches, sunsets, golf courses and our hotel was great. I actually went snorkeling for the first time. (I am afraid of the evil sea creatures) There was a lot of WWII historical sites to see as well. A place called Bonzai Cliff, and another called Suicide Cliff, I am sure the names speak for themselves. Now there are peace memorials at these two locations following The Second World War. We saw the last Japanese post as well, with lots of guns, tanks and a rock that served as a shelter. There were some breath taking views to take in as well. The island is only 5 miles wide and 13 miles long. Everything was very expensive there. We couldn't eat anywhere for less than $50 a meal. OUCH! But we pinched our way through the week. The island is obviously in the South Pacific, so the weather was absolutely gorgeous everyday. Temps in the upper 80's to mid 90's. So this morning, back in Japan, we are feeling a bit cold, the temps here are in the upper 50's. At times we would look around the local area and think we were in a 3rd world country (we kind of were actually) because of the condition of all the buildings, shacks for houses and massive water conservation. But all in all, Saipan is a beautiful place, the people were very friendly and have a proud heritage. This was a great way to spend our last few days together as a family!
